Now you may be thinking, yeah right. Why would some company pay me to let them know what I think? Well, that's exactly why. It's called market research. And it's a lot cheaper for a company to have people come to them ( filling out surveys), then it is to hire a marketing firm to figure it out.
Put it this way. If a company is going to invest millions of dollars to develop a product, they definitely want some idea about whether or not that product is going to fly before they spend the money.
For an established product, it's a matter of tweaking their advertising. If the competition is kicking their butt, market research helps them to figure out why. It also helps them know what needs changing so they can capture a bigger share of the market.
Think packaging, product features and benefits, catchy slogans, ad campaigns. Those jingles from commercials that stick in your mind. How about the slogans that immediately make you think of a certain brand? The TV spots that you remember. All these things were developed after extensive market research.

How much you make does depend on a few factors.
For instance, how much time are you prepared to spend filling out surveys? If you have more time you will be able to fill out more surveys.
Sometimes though, it is out of your control. You may not always be eligible to fill out every survey. If they want info on video games, they may target guys under 30. If they are doing research about a new shampoo they may be looking for females only. If the survey is about baby products, the participants might be limited to parents of babies. And so on.
Even so, there are tons of surveys out there and survey companies add new ones all the time, so you're almost guaranteed to get quite a few.
Some surveys can be quite detailed and time consuming, and may even require that you give written answers to some of the questions. So you'll want to be sure it's worth your while. With that said, you need to know that not all survey companies operate the same way.
Some have people fill out surveys in return for entries into draws for some amazing prizes, like plasma TVs or vacations. Others award points for completing surveys. You can then trade these points for a variety of products. It's like shopping without having to spend money.

When I first started doing surveys, I signed up with a lot of survey companies thinking I was going to make lots more money. But I learned the hard way that I was wasting a lot of time and actually leaving money on the table.
You see, in order to qualify for surveys you have to fill out information about yourself and your interests. This is so the company can match you up to suitable surveys.
Some companies are just too new so they have few surveys to offer. Others do the "point" thing instead of paying cash.
